Another war crime to add to the record of Russian occupying forces. A deliberate attack on a market full of civilians at Kostiantynivka. For now, at least 16 people are killed and much more wounded.
While we can see the evidence of Russian terror on the daily basis, there are people from the academia turning the blind eye on Russian war crimes, many of them fighting with their own ideological demons by repeating Russian propaganda on the US proxy war and the “fight to the last Ukrainian”, or that the West has provoked Russia, basically banalizing the evil that Russians do in Ukraine. These “analysts”, usually sympathetic to Chomsky or that stream of thought, don’t even think to mention that rockets coming to Ukraine and killing Ukrainians are Russian. Just try to apply that “might makes right” logic to all analysis of various infringements of human rights or when discussing social justice.
Sometimes we can hear complains that we pay for this war with higher prices of goods and services. Perhaps, but Ukrainians are paying with their blood. And this is the highest and the most horrible price someone pays for freedom and peace ultimately. If not that, what else should Ukrainians do? Some of these “couch experts” (from the comfort distance) suggest Ukrainians should basically accept the reality of Russian crimes of aggression and simply surrender completely or at the least the territories occupied by Russia since 2014 and since spring of 2022.
Such a view constitutes the banality of evil in our times. Unfortunately, we have to engage more and continue to support Ukraine…now, sending medical aid in the area of emergency is of the highest importance.
